Shen Yun Performing Arts invited audiences from Miami, Florida, Torino, Italy, and Sakai, Japan, on a journey through ancient China from before communism. Audience members felt they were mesmerized by Shen Yun’s artistry.
“I think the choreography was out of this world,” said Karla Mejia, a chief accounting officer. “The synchronization, the costumes, the music, even the synchronization of the music with the dances and the special effects that they had on the background were number one.”
“I liked the performance very much. I liked the delicacy and the calmness with which the stories were told. The sounds, the music, and the colors were really exciting,” said Giovanni Panero, an entrepreneur.
“The lyrics were very good, I was very moved. It was a beautiful poem,” said Toshihiko Shiraishi, a former company president.
Through classical Chinese dance, music, and stories, Shen Yun aims to revive China’s 5,000-year-old traditions, rich in spiritual and artistic heritage. Audience members took note of a deeper message.
“Spirituality is very important in this show. It is what distinguishes old China and modern China, where spirituality today is nonexistent, unfortunately,” said Geoff Farrugia, a lawyer.
“The message of hope, of the union of the Creator who we hope will return, and to return to our roots and faith that many people have lost,” said Simone Marietta, an entrepreneur.
“It takes years to reach this extent. It was a combination of perseverance, hard work, and many other things. I was truly moved to see such a wonderful dance,” said Junko Tagawa, a company president.
Shen Yun will be performing at the Harris Center in Folsom, California, on Jan. 14 and 15.
