Plans to Relax Rules for Gene-Edited Foods in England

A new bill that would relax rules for gene-edited plants and animals in England was sent to Parliament Wednesday. European Union rules mean the technology isn’t currently in use, but Brexit means the UK can now set its own rules. Shoppers in supermarkets won’t be able to tell the difference though, as the environment secretary says gene-edited foods won’t be labelled.
