Dual-Use Chemicals for Drug Production, Industry ‘Difficult to Regulate’: Former DEA Special Agent

Mexico’s Navy is increasingly concerned about the flow of unregulated “dual-use” chemicals. Mexico’s largest port by volume said officials have seen an increase in imports of such chemicals, mostly from China, that are used to manufacture legal items such as food, perfume, and pharmaceuticals—while also doubling up as precursors to synthesize meth and fentanyl.
