The United States filed an indictment in February against the leaders of the Hamas terrorist organization over the Oct. 7, 2023 attack on Israel, but unveiled them several months later on Sept. 3.
According to Gerard Filitti, a Middle East affairs analyst, this was a surprising move. According to some media reports, unnamed U.S. officials have said the delay was due to hopes of apprehending the Hamas leaders first.
