Rita Asangarani, a law firm owner, enjoyed seeing Shen Yun for the ninth time at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, Canada, on Dec. 28, 2017.
Asangarani said, “I’ve been coming for nine years, since I was a university student. Every time it’s a beautiful experience. I love the art, the beauty of it, the costume design. I like the martial arts elements that are built into the dance. I love the music—the live music is always very captivating, it works so well with the design.”
Shen Yun Performing Arts was founded in New York and its five companies tour the world each year with all new programming. Through the universal languages of dance and music, the performances give audiences a glimpse into the ancient culture of China.
Asangarani said, “It’s definitely an eye-opener and it’s definitely an experience. You see the beautiful dancing and you see the connection it has with the divine element to the dance, bringing in the story of these ancient traditions and cultures and beliefs and presenting it in a beautiful dance, so I like it a lot! I think it’s a great way to learn a little bit more about some kind of ancient traditions and beliefs in the Chinese culture.”
Obviously, Asangarani is a true fan of Shen Yun.
“Every year I bring someone with me, whether it’s my parents, my grandparents, my siblings, my friends, every year someone comes with me. I try to show it to everyone. I think it’s really pretty!”
