The 119th Congress begins on Friday, and electing the House speaker is the first order of business. Current speaker Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.) is battling to keep the gavel after even the full endorsement of President-elect Donald Trump wasn’t enough to shore up support. About a dozen Republicans are undecided, and one is an outright ‘no.’ NTD was joined by political strategist Gerard Filitti to discuss how the negotiations are unfolding.

Authorities have identified the suspect in the Las Vegas Cybertruck explosion as active-duty U.S. Army Green Beret Matthew Livelsberger. They say the suspect shot himself in the head before the explosion went off, but they still don’t know what motivated him. Investigators say there is no apparent link between this incident and the deadly New Orleans car attack. NTD spoke with Peter Forcelli, a retired ATF Deputy Assistant Director, to discuss the ongoing investigation.

South Korean investigators have suspended efforts to enforce an arrest warrant for impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol on Friday, after a six-hour standoff at his compound in central Seoul between the military and presidential guards. Hundreds of his supporters also surrounded the compound, chanting vows to protect him.
