Legal analyst Alan Dershowitz says District Attorney Alvin Bragg is coming after former President Donald Trump using “made-up laws.” He questions Bragg’s apparent attempt to elevate a case about falsifying records—over Attorney Michael Cohen’s alleged hush money payment to Stormy Daniels—from a misdemeanor to a felony by trying to tie it to a federal violation of campaign finance law. Marc Ruskin, former assistant DA for Brooklyn, told NTD that Bragg is trying to have a federal prosecution even though he is a local prosecutor. Ruskin says the case is unlikely to go forward due to a host of procedural issues including the statute of limitations.
