Both the Democratic and Republican parties expressed confidence in their candidates after the high-stakes vice presidential debate Tuesday night. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Ohio Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) sparred over key election issues in a civil and occasionally even cordial manner.
NTD spoke with Jeffrey Bloodworth, a political historian at Gannon University, who said that though vice presidential debates usually don’t have much impact on the outcome of an election, the civility of the Walz–Vance vice presidential debate is encouraging young Americans to engage in open and respectful political discourse.
