When the Republicans take control of the House in January, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas will likely face impeachment. Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) is leading a charge to prove that Mayorkas is guilty of “dereliction of duty in protecting the border, constituting high crimes and misdemeanors.”
Biggs itemized his articles of impeachment at a Dec. 13 press conference where he was flanked by fellow members of the border security caucus and former senior DHS officials. We bring you highlights from that press conference.
Then, we sit down with former Border Patrol Chief Rodney Scott, who served in the Trump administration and under Mayorkas during the first seven months of the Biden White House. Scott is now a senior distinguished fellow for border security with the Texas Public Policy Foundation. Scott says the evidence is clear: Mayorkas knew exactly the crisis his open border policies would create. Scott gives us an on-the-ground perspective and warns that as bad as the border is now, it’s going to get worse when Title 42 expires on Dec. 21.
Finally, in America Q&A we ask: Should more officers be placed at the southern border to manage the influx of migrants?
