Japanese Audience Members Touched by Shen Yun: ‘Beautiful and Clean’

January 8, 2025

Shen Yun Performing Arts graced the stage in a packed theater in Kyoto, Japan, on Jan. 4 and 5. Audience members were deeply moved by the performance and some were even brought to tears.

“I was so impressed. I was moved to tears from the very beginning, it was so beautiful and clean,” said Emi Sakai, a business owner. “First of all, the colors were beautiful, the colors were wonderful, and I was in the very front, so I was really moved to tears from the very beginning.”

“I was really surprised. There are many interesting aspects of ancient China, and I was very surprised at how well the images and the stage were integrated,” said Hiroshi Ohashi, a company president.

“The men were really strong and did a lot of acrobatic tricks, and the women were just beautiful,” said Maiko Ichiyuri, a dancer. “They seemed to have it all together, including how to use their sleeves. So I thought they were just beautiful.”

“It’s very beautiful. I was impressed by the way the artist expressed even the tips of her fingers,” said Yusuke Ueda, a company executive. “I felt that the strength of the song, but also the suppleness within the strength, is conveyed well.”

Shen Yun travels the world with the goal of reviving China’s 5,000 years of divinely inspired, traditional culture and virtues, earning praise from theatergoers.

“The story itself was very simple, so it was easy to understand, and it reminded me of things that I usually forget,” said Takanari Yuguchi, an IP agency executive. “Simple things like not to do bad things, or the spirit of believing.”

“Visually, the colors are very beautiful. And it was fun because it was an animation with a dance,” said Masaki Nishikawa, a hospital director.

“It was a wonderful traditional performance and a wonderful way to have Chinese history done in the style of a play,” said Naoki Taniguchi, a city council member. “It was a performance that showed a considerable amount of practice, technical skill, and effort on the part of the instructors and staff.”

Shen Yun will be performing in Sakai, Japan on Jan. 10 and 11.
