Vice presidential nominee and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz is hitting the gridiron this weekend, in an apparent attempt to persuade male voters to support the Harris–Walz ticket in the upcoming general election against former President Donald Trump and Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio).

Appearing on ABC’s “Good Morning America” on Friday and speaking with host Michael Strahan, a former Super Bowl Champion with the New York Giants, Walz leaned into his background as a high school football coach, saying that he feels like he’s “on a championship team with Vice President Harris” and stressed that coaching is “about building teams.”

Late Friday, the Harris-Walz campaign announced that the governor will be “participating in an early hunt in Minnesota to mark the start of pheasant season,” which coincides with the launch of a new coalition, “Hunters and Anglers for Harris-Walz.”

Walz will also attend a Minnesota football game between Mankato West High School and Mankato East High School on Friday evening, according to a Harris campaign press release. He will give a pregame speech to his former team, Mankato West, which is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the school’s winning the state championship—with Walz as assistant coach.

Walz was also a teacher at Mankato West from 1996 until 2006, leaving that job after he was sworn into Congress in Jan. 2007, representing Minnesota’s 1st District.

Walz appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Monday—the 1st anniversary of the Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist organization’s attacks on Israel. In discussing the attack on Israel, Walz said that he and Harris “talk about making sure that it never happens again, that Israel’s secure and the hostages are brought home, and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza ends.”

Harris did her own media blitz earlier this week, appearing on “The View,” “The Howard Stern Show,” and “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on Tuesday.

Former President Donald Trump is leading among male voters by 13 percent, according to an Oct. 8 New York Times/Siena College poll, while a majority of women polled said they intended to vote for Harris.

Harris is currently ahead of Trump by a 5.8-percent margin in Minnesota, according to an ActiVote poll released on Friday.
