American consumers lost some confidence in June according to the Conference Board. We checked in with a senior economic analyst at Bankrate.com, Mark Hamrick, to get a reading on how the U.S. consumer is doing overall. He said American consumers are not fairing particularly well. Mr. Hamrick explained there are many factors—high inflation and interest rates, but also a solid job market. Mr. Hamrick also examined how the outlook on the economy is swayed by political groundings and not necessarily economic reality.
