An NTD analysis of over 3,000 U.S. counties shows that President-elect Donald Trump gained more ground among voters in bluer areas, on average. Trump increased his margins in 2024 in counties he carried in the last election by 3.5 percent, while that increase was 6.2 percent in counties President Joe Biden won in the last election. Part of the reason for that could be Trump’s ability to build a multi-racial working-class coalition, helping him win more voters in diverse suburbs, as well as possible voter dissatisfaction with the way Democrats are running cities like New York, particularly in the “defund the police” era.
