Taiwanese people are upping their wartime defenses. A new board game set against the backdrop of armed conflict around Taiwan will be released in January. It’s inviting players to participate in an imaginary Chinese invasion set 20 years from now.
This new board game is called “2045,” where players can participate in an imaginary Chinese invasion 20 years in the future. The board game simulates an armed conflict near Taiwan, and it’s releasing at a time of renewed tension with Beijing.
“2045” lets players face the challenges of war by role-playing characters in the ten days ahead of an attack. Gamers use colorful cards to take on the guises of Taiwanese soldiers, Chinese spies, pro-China politicians, and citizens defending their home.
China claims democratically governed Taiwan as its own and has never renounced the use of force to bring the island under its control.
