Southwest to End Open-Seating and Offer Premium Seats, in Company’s Biggest-Ever Shift

Southwest Airlines, long known for being an efficient low-cost carrier, is scrapping open-seating and offering premium seating. This comes after 2nd quarter profits nose-dived 46 percent, and activist investor Elliott Management called for the executives to resign.
