You Can Feel Something Divine in the Show, Toulon Theatergoers Say About Shen Yun

April 20, 2024

Shen Yun Performing Arts toured the southern French city of Toulon from March 27 to 29. The director of ecological transition for the city of Marseilles was among the audience members who attended.

“I really enjoyed the lightness of the performances, the fluidity, the order too, [and] the coordination between the dancers. And I think the discipline is really beautiful to watch, very enjoyable. We had a great time with our families,” said Muriel Andrieu-Semmel. “I really like the flow of energy that you can feel in the show, and the dancers’ mastery. In fact, you can feel the precision.”

Serge Walleck, a dance teacher, said that Shen Yun is “at an exceptional level, an exceptional level. Very physical, and very accomplished. It’s really top-notch.”

Audience members said they were touched by the energy and message the show presents.

Mr. Walleck also added: “There’s an inner beauty, the emotions as well, that stood out. You felt all the emotions [displayed] towards the audience and the audience felt it, being in the middle of the audience, the audience really felt it.”

Ms. Andrieu-Semmel said: “We feel really good. And what I’m telling you is what I really felt like, and that’s the [shared emotion] we had as a family. We enjoyed it in a way that was harmonious, is the word that comes to mind. And [gives a feeling] of appeasement, delight, and joy. It’s incredible.”

Through classical Chinese dance and music, Shen Yun illuminates the roots of Chinese culture and spirituality, a culture ancient people believed was inspired by the divine.

Frank Suisse, a business owner, said: “Whatever beliefs you may have, you can feel that there’s something divine in this show, and you can feel it in the dancers. We were in a dream, we were taken to a marvelous world, almost unreal and fantastic.”

“We have to bring back all the old values, everything our ancestors gave us. We have to preserve them, we have to teach them now to our children, our grandchildren, etc., so that the world becomes better like it was before,” said Mr. Walleck.

Shen Yun will return to France’s Aix-en-Provence through April 14.
