Shen Yun Performing Arts took audience members at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto, Canada, on a journey through ancient China on April 7. They were deeply impressed by Shen Yun’s artistry.
“It was absolutely out of this world. The dancing, the music, was so fascinating. The expressiveness so feminine, and the beautiful women dancers. And the comedy that you could follow the story, which is from 5,000 years ago, it’s absolutely brilliant, absolutely brilliant. And one of the things I really loved was the combination of Western music and the Chinese music. I think those musicians were absolutely outstanding,” said Jean Clinton, a clinical professor at McMaster, a division of child psychiatry.
“It was like a journey, each story would take you to a different place,” said Dr. Laura Caracas, a family medicine doctor.
“We were able to understand a lot of that history just through simple movement and music and expression. It was phenomenal,” said Mina Di Carlo, owner of Facade Academy of The Arts.
Shen Yun’s mission is to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture and values from before communism.
Ms. Clinton deeply valued the compassion presented by Shen Yun on stage.
“Compassion is just so very important, that is, feeling for another and actually acting on it.”
“There’s certain truths that continue to exist, that have existed for thousands of years. Values like truth, compassion, kindness, and this really reminds us that, and sometimes we need that reminder,” said Anu Sriskandarajah, the vice chair of the policy and governance committee and a school board trustee of Toronto.
“The colors were just so gorgeous and they helped play a part of the story and telling the spirit and helping to uplift the audience and what they were witnessing, the storylines. They’re trying to keep people in a positive mindset towards a brighter future,” said Ms. Di Carlo.
Audience members highly praised the performance and many said they felt inspired after seeing Shen Yun.
“I would say that if you can, come and experience this experience. The kindness, the truth, the reconciliation if you look at that, and immerse yourself, understand that Yun is the expression, the movement, and the being of the body. You see just how marvelous the human spirit can absolutely be,” said Ms. Clinton.
“I would absolutely without a doubt recommend to all,” she added.
“It’s definitely a good learning opportunity and it’s very inspiring, so I would recommend them to come and see for themselves,” said Dr. Caracas.
Ms. Sriskandarajah said that Shen Yun’s performance could have a positive impact on people from all ages.
“I encourage everyone to come out and see it, it’s a beautiful cultural experience, children would benefit from it as well.”
“Definitely check this out, it is worth every part of it, every experience. It is wonderful from the beginning till the end. Thank you,” said Ms. Di Carlo.
Shen Yun’s 2024 world tour will continue through May.
