London Theatergoers Moved by Shen Yun’s ‘Magic’

January 14, 2025

Shen Yun depicts scenes from ancient times to the modern day live on stage through music and dance. Among the audience at London’s Eventim Apollo on Jan. 12 was actress Susan Hampshire.

“Both the girls and the boys jump so beautifully. Their extension with their legs is wonderful; their balance is so good. And also they were telling a story which I didn’t know. So I found it very interesting and very satisfying,” she said.“It was a very special occasion.”

Classical Chinese dance is known to be one of the most expressive art forms in the world. Many people who see Shen Yun say it’s more than just a show.

“It’s not just dance, but it’s dance with storytelling, which enables you to travel from this world into a spiritual world and back again,” said director John Lange. “It makes you reflect, and I think particularly now where we’re just beginning 2025, this is a wonderful way to start the new year.”

Actress Helene Le Bohec described Shen Yun as “magic.”

“A visual scenery is worth 1,000 words,” she said. “It’s a miracle, and it’s about time, and it’s really impressive. Long may it live, I hope it can carry on its wonderful mission.”
