SAN JOSE, Calif.—Victoria Recaño, the host of CBS Inside Edition, and her husband, Tom Burwell, were among the enchanted audience members of the Dec. 28 Shen Yun performance at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts. The couple brought their children and thoroughly enjoyed the production.

“I like it. It’s really good!” Ms. Recaño said, referring to Shen Yun’s digital projection backdrop. The 3D animation extends the stage to infinite realms, allowing storytelling without limits. It is a Shen Yun innovation that creates seamless interaction between projection and the performers on stage—an invention so original it has its own patent.

Mr. Burwell, a banking executive, was also very impressed by the story dance enhanced by the animated backdrop. He recounted one of his favorite scenes where the male dancer “went into the ocean, and there’s like a splash of water; the interactions with the technical screen [brings the scene] back and forth between the heavens and then back on stage. So I thought that was very realistic.”

As an Emmy® Award-winning host and reporter, Ms. Recaño has covered a wide range of topics from business to politics, from entertainment to lifestyle. She called Shen Yun’s classical Chinese dance “amazing,” while Mr. Burwell said it was “spectacular.”

Classical Chinese dance is one of the world’s oldest art forms. Over thousands of years, it was constantly refined, eventually developing into the vast and distinctly Chinese dance form we know today. Established in New York in 2006, Shen Yun Performing Arts is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company. The goal of the artists at Shen Yun is to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture.

Shen Yun’s dance costumes and colors are true to traditional aesthetics and styles. Ms. Recaño thought that “the costumes were great.” The vibrant hues and exquisite details bring the entire stage to life. Mr. Burwell said that “it is a festive dance history of China.”
