During a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Wednesday, Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) grilled Sarah French Russell, President Joe Biden’s nominee to be United States District Judge for the District of Connecticut, over a letter Ms. Russell allegedly signed in 2020 after the COVID-19 outbreak, which called on Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont to, Sen. Kennedy said, “release everybody in jails” and “stop arresting people.”
“If you believe that, how are you going to ever sentence anybody to jail, professor?” Mr. Kennedy asked.
