Sen. Cruz Questions Biden Nominee for Ambassador to Egypt on Anti-Israel ‘Media Disinformation,’ Muslim Brotherhood Extremist

During a Senate Foreign Affairs Committee hearing to examine the nominations of several diplomats on Thursday, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) questioned Herro Mustafa Garg, President Joe Biden’s pick to be the next U.S. ambassador to Egypt, over the western mainstream media’s parroting of anti-Israel narratives. He also accused the Biden administration of “bizarrely” pressuring Egypt to release Salah Soltan, a Muslim Brotherhood leader. Sen. Cruz said Mr. Soltan is a “hate preacher” who has called for the eradication of Jews and for “obliterating America.”
