A community seminar in upstate New York on Dec. 18 shed light on the security threats posed by the Chinese communist regime to those who live and work at Dragon Springs.

Dragon Springs is a 400-acre campus primarily in the town of Deerpark that is home to Tang-style Buddhist temples, an academy and college, and the global training headquarters for Shen Yun, a premier classical Chinese dance and music company.

Shen Yun portrays genuine Chinese culture untainted by communism—and the tyranny of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)—on stages around the world and is a primary target of the regime, according to Levi Browde, vice president of the Dragon Springs project office.

The seminar was hosted by the Mount Hope, Port Jervis, and Deerpark Chinese Associations, and was held at the Deerpark Senior Center.

The seminar invited a panel of three speakers: Browde; Sean Lin, member of the Committee on the Present Danger: China, and China reporter Ben Hedges.

A few elected officials attended the seminar, including Tom Faggione, county legislator; Gary Spears, Town of Deerpark supervisor; and Christa Hoovler, Deerpark councilmember.
