SCOTUS Expands State Power Over Native American Tribes

The Supreme Court ruled on Wednesday, that Oklahoma can prosecute non-Native Americans for crimes committed on tribal land when the victim is Native American.

The ruling narrows the 2020 decision of McGirt v. Oklahoma, which says crimes committed on reservations by Native Americans, cannot be prosecuted by state or local law enforcement.
