Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Ukraine’s push into Russia is designed to create a buffer zone and to help prevent future Russian attacks.
However, according to Kervin Aucoin, the former lead intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance coordinator for the U.S. Army in Europe and the host of the “This Week Explained” podcast, this is only what Zelenskyy can say publicly. The real reason, Aucoin says, is likely to suck Russian forces out of the Donetsk and Kherson regions of Ukraine.
