Hiring cooled significantly in the U.S. private sector last month.
On Thursday, payroll processor ADP reported businesses added 99,000 jobs in August, which came in well below economists’ expectations of 141,000 jobs. It was also lower than July’s total, which was revised down by 11,000 jobs to 111,000.
