Both Israel and the Hamas terrorist group said on Friday they will continue fighting in Gaza in the wake of Israel’s killing of top Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar. The Biden administration had expressed optimism about the situation, saying Sinwar’s death represents an “inflection point” for a possible cease-fire.
President Joe Biden met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin on Friday for discussions on the wars in the Middle East and Ukraine. Biden said Sinwar’s death creates an opportunity to seek a path to peace and a better future in Gaza without Hamas.
Presidential candidates former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris will campaign in the key battleground state of Michigan on Friday. Harris will make campaign stops in Grand Rapids, Lansing, and Oakland County, while Trump has activities in Oakland County and Detroit.
