The judge overseeing the Georgia election case against former President Donald Trump tossed out two more charges on Thursday. Judge Scott McAfee said the charges lie beyond the state’s jurisdiction. The order reduces the original 13-count indictment brought against Trump by District Attorney Fani Willis to eight.

New York City Police Commissioner Edward Caban has resigned. A week ago, it was reported that his phone was seized as part of a federal investigation involving several New York officials. In a statement, Caban said the noise around recent developments has hindered the important work New York City requires.

Trump on Thursday ruled out another debate with Vice President Kamala Harris. In rejecting the debate, Trump suggested that a “prizefighter” who loses a bout is always the one to call for a rematch. During a campaign rally in North Carolina, Harris said she believes she and Trump “owe it to voters” to debate again.
