The Biden administration is calling on Venezuela to publish a complete tabulation of votes from Sunday’s presidential election, after incumbent leader Nicolás Maduro was declared the winner of the election with 51 percent of the vote. Venezuela’s election authority said opposition candidate Edmundo González received 44 percent of the vote. It has not released the tallies from any machines yet. Widespread protests broke out across Venezuela as a result. Mr. González says his campaign has proof that he won, with more than double Mr. Maduro’s votes. Mr. Maduro says he knows how to deal with nationwide protests and “those who are violent.”
President Joe Biden is proposing sweeping changes to the Supreme Court, as Vice President Kamala Harris also gets on board. But Republicans warn it would “erode the rule of law.”
In the midst of multiple legal challenges, TikTok is once again back in the spotlight. The Justice Department has accused the China-backed platform of harvesting user information on sensitive social issues.
