The Palisades and Eaton Fires have been the most destructive in the city’s history. Winds eased briefly on Thursday, but red flag conditions returned overnight, complicating firefighting efforts.
The Supreme Court has given the go-ahead for President-elect Donald Trump’s sentencing in his business records case, which is scheduled for Friday. Trump accepted the court’s decision but has vowed to appeal the sentence. Justice Juan Merchan has indicated that Trump is unlikely to face any penalties.
The Supreme Court is set to hear oral arguments challenging the imminent ban of TikTok. The Court will decide whether the law banning the platform violates free speech protections under the First Amendment. If the Court doesn’t delay or block the law, TikTok will be banned in the United States from Jan. 19.
