Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s running mate, Nicole Shanahan, says they’re both considering dropping out of the presidential race to join forces with former President Donald Trump. Shanahan says the independent candidate doesn’t have a clear path to victory, and doesn’t want to take votes away from Trump. She said Kennedy hasn’t been given a fair chance at winning the election and is considering two options: forming a new party or joining Trump’s campaign.
Former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama delivered speeches in support of Vice President Kamala Harris on the second day of the DNC. Outside, pro-Palestinian protesters clashed with police, leading to multiple arrests. Harris was confirmed as the Democratic nominee, and stressed the difficulty her ticket faces in winning the upcoming election.
Meanwhile, Trump and his running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), took their message on crime to police departments in two battleground states. They’re pledging to improve conditions for law enforcement officers if Trump wins in November. It’s part of a campaign effort to counter the energy of the Democratic National Convention this week.
