A study published in the journal “Scientific Reports” on Tuesday says a major asteroid may have crashed into Jupiter’s moon Ganymede roughly four billion years ago, causing its axis to shift.

Some astronomers say that’s why there’s a pattern of concentric circles on Ganymede’s surface.
