Cubans are risking their lives to flee their homeland, and the numbers are staggering. It’s second only to a mass exodus just over four decades ago where about 125,000 Cubans fled the island in a six-month period. Some are now flying to neighboring countries, hitchhiking, and trekking across mountain ranges. Others try their luck at an ocean voyage, with some so desperate they are using homemade rafts.
