The FBI is investigating as a terrorist attack the tragic incident in New Orleans early on New Year’s Day in which a suspect drove a truck carrying an ISIS flag into a crowd, killing at least 15 people.
NTD spoke to Kervin Aucoin, a former counterterrorism analyst for the U.S. Army, who said there was likely a national security lapse prior to the attack in which the suspected “radicalized” veteran was not flagged. Aucoin says technology needs to keep up with the new means of terrorist groups’ recruiting or influencing attackers.
