Members of the Quad—short for the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue comprising the United States, Australia, India, and Japan—have pledged to ramp up cooperation on maritime security amid increasing tension with China in the Indo-Pacific.
NTD speaks to retired Marine Col. Grant Newsham, a senior fellow at the Center for Security Policy and the author of “When China Attacks.” He says the move is a good first step toward countering the Chinese communist regime’s aggression at sea. Newsham says this is of critical importance because Beijing can use these waters to choke off Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea, as well as to disrupt global trade.
