At a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Nov. 15, Sara E. Hill, President Joe Biden’s nominee to be the district judge for the Northern District of Oklahoma, struggled to answer Sen. John Kennedy’s (R-La.) questions about legal definitions.

When Mr. Kennedy asked the difference between a “stay” order and an “injunction” order, Ms. Hill faltered and said, “I’m not sure that I actually can give you that.”

After Mr. Kennedy finished his questioning, the chairman of the committee, Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), joked by congratulating Ms. Hill on “surviving the John Kennedy six-minute bar exam.”
