It’s been exactly a month since former President Donald Trump was shot at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Marking the occasion on Tuesday, Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-N.Y.) introduced a bill that would ramp up Secret Service protection for political leaders and candidates. Under the proposal, the agency will be compelled to expand security perimeter to at least 500 yards around public events, shielding candidates from potential gunshots while covering any elevated position within that range.
