Harris’s Acceptance Speech Sought to Appeal to Americans Who Identify With Immigration Story: Political Analyst

In her acceptance speech, vice president and Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris told her story of being the child of Indian and Jamaican immigrants, with what she described as a working-class upbringing and being raised to understand the importance of dreaming big and emphasizing the American virtue of hard work.

According to NTD contributor Mike Leon, the director of policy and strategy at the Free and Equal Elections Foundation, Harris will appeal to many Americans who can relate to a background involving either themselves or family members immigrating to the United States.
