Fox News host Bret Baier aired an exclusive Wednesday on his show “Special Report,” where he sat down with the Democratic nominee for president and the current vice president, Kamala Harris.

“How many illegal immigrants would you estimate your administration has let into the country over the last three and a half years?” Baier asked as his opening question.

Harris didn’t give a number and replied by talking about The U.S. Citizenship Act of 2021, which was presented in the House on her first day as vice resident. The bill died when the 117th Congress finished its session.

“We recognized from day one that, to the point of this being your first question, it is a priority for us as a nation and for the American people. And our focus has been fixing a problem,” Harris said.

The interview took place in Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania, after her campaign held an event at a historic park where George Washington crossed the Delaware on a stormy Christmas night, 1776, in a successful surprise attack during the American Revolutionary War.

“Let me be clear, my presidency will not be a continuation of Joe Biden’s presidency,” Harris said after Baier played a clip of Harris from last week on ABC’s “The View” where she said she couldn’t think of anything she would have done differently than Biden did during his presidency.

Baier then asked Harris to explain her campaign messaging in this election.

“Your campaign slogan is ‘A New Way Forward’ and ‘It’s Time To Turn The Page.’ You’ve been vice president for three and a half years, so what are you turning the page from?” Baier asked.

Harris replied that she was turning the page from the rhetoric of her rival, former President Donald Trump, who she blamed for causing the country’s ongoing problems.

Baier then asked, “Why, if he’s as bad as you say, that half of this country is supporting this person who could be the 47th President of the United States?”

Harris replied, “This is an election for president of the United States. It’s not supposed to be easy.”

In response to questions about whether or not she will use taxpayer dollars to “help prison inmates or detained illegal aliens to transition to another gender,” Harris replied saying, “I will follow the law.”

Time Issues

In a panel later on his show after the interview aired, Baier described how the interview was under time pressure.

“We were supposed to start at 5 p.m. This is the time they gave us. We were originally going to do 25 or 30 minutes. They came in and said ‘Well, maybe 20.’ So, it was already getting whittled down. And then the vice president showed up about 5.15.”

Baier said four of Harris’s staffers were waving at him, signaling the end of the interview. “The wrapping me pretty hard,” he said to Harris just before ending the interview.

The total air time was just under 27 minutes.
