Congress is faced with the task of avoiding a government shutdown. According to Hugh Fike, the director of government relations at the Conservative Partnership Institute, Republican lawmakers are likely to seek a continuing resolution as a bandaid fix in order to punt the spending bill negotiations far enough down the road such that former President Donald Trump can weigh in on them if he’s elected.
