Veteran actress Robyn Bernard, known for her role as Terry Brock on the long-running soap opera “General Hospital,” passed away at 64.
Authorities discovered Ms. Bernard’s body in an open field behind a business in San Jacinto, California, on Tuesday morning, as revealed in a press release from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.
According to reports, Ms. Bernard was pronounced dead at 4:08 a.m. local time. TMZ learned from the Riverside County Coroner that her identity was confirmed through fingerprint analysis after law enforcement responded to a call regarding the incident. After completing an autopsy report, law enforcement says they do not suspect foul play; however, toxicology reports can take up to several weeks to complete.
The Epoch Times spoke to a representative from the Riverside Coroner’s Office who stated, “The cause of death is still pending, and it can take several weeks to determine.”
Originally from Gladewater, Texas, Ms. Bernard began her entertainment career as a child singer alongside her sister Crystal Bernard, who later found fame on the TV series “Wings.”
Her acting journey started with minor roles in television shows such as “Diva,” “The Facts of Life,” “Simon & Simon,” “Tour of Duty,” and “Betty Blue.” However, her breakthrough came in 1984 when she secured the role of Terry Brock in “General Hospital,” a character she portrayed in 145 episodes until 1990. Her portrayal of D.L. Brock’s daughter garnered attention as her character grappled with alcoholism, impacting her fictional music career.
Ms. Bernard’s final acting credit was in 2002, when she portrayed a psychologist in “Voices from High School.” Following this, she chose to retreat from the public eye to lead a private life.
She leaves behind her father, Jerry Wayne Bernard, and two sisters, Crystal and Scarlett Bernard, as her surviving family members.
Ms. Bernard’s death adds to a series of tragedies that have struck the “General Hospital” community in recent months.
Earlier this year, the soap opera world bid farewell to David Gail, known for his portrayal of Dr. Joe Scanlon on the “General Hospital” spinoff “Port Charles.” Us Weekly confirmed Mr. Gail’s passing on Jan. 22 at the age of 58, attributing it to complications arising from sudden cardiac arrest. A statement from Mr. Gail’s publicist, Linda Brown, emphasized his love for acting and his dedication to his loved ones, noting his ability to make everyone feel special in his presence.
The “General Hospital” family faced yet another loss last year with the untimely death of Tyler Christopher. Known for his roles as Nikolas Cassadine and Connor Bishop from 1996 to 2016, Mr. Christopher passed away at 50 in October. Maurice Benard, his co-star, shared the news on social media, revealing that Mr. Christopher had succumbed to a “cardiac event in his San Diego apartment.”
The subsequent report from the Medical Examiner’s Office in January attributed Mr. Christopher’s cause of death to positional asphyxia due to acute alcohol intoxication.
Meantime, the investigation into Ms. Bernard’s death is ongoing.
