One of the two companies in charge of recycling food waste in Sweden’s Stockholm region, Biokraft, has announced that the total amount of food waste collected from January to March increased by about 20 percent compared to the same period last year.
The business processes the waste into fertilizer and biogas, with the fertilizer subsequently sent to local farmers and the gas fueling local buses.
Additionally, Biokraft manufactures a liquefied biofuel that is exported overseas.
