EU Foreign Policy Chief Urges Israeli–Palestinian Resolution to End ‘Cycle of Violence’

European Union Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell spoke to the press on Tuesday after an emergency meeting with fellow EU foreign ministers. He criticized the Hamas terrorist attack, while urging Israel to adhere to international law in its response, such as ensuring the provision of food, water, and humanitarian aid to the civilian population of Gaza. Mr. Borrell also stressed the need for a peaceful resolution to end the “cycle of violence” between Palestinians and Israelis, reiterating the EU’s hope for a two-state solution.
