When entrepreneur Elon Musk bought Twitter he said “Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy,” and when Governor Desantis made his announcement of his bid for the presidency on Twitter Spaces, he praised the site as a free speech bastion.
NTD spoke to Jeffrey Tucker, the founder, and president of the Brownstone Institute, who said there were prevalent censorship concerns at Twitter before Musk’s takeover, whereas now it’s one of the few sites that is not “fully controlled by deep state interests.” Tucker also points out that Americans should look past headlines without substance, such as those focusing on the 20-minute delay of DeSantis’s announcement, and focus more on the content of the politicians’ speeches.
