One of the focuses during the BRICS summit has been the U.S. dollar. Russian President Vladimir Putin opened the summit, calling for an alternative international payment system. Being heavily sanctioned, Russia blames the United States for using the dollar as a weapon. Putin said that 95 percent of trade between Russia and China is now conducted in rubles and yuan. But what would de-dollarization mean for the United States?
