Both Parties Need to Be Tougher on China: Col. Grant Newsham

Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance recently defended his calls for higher tariffs on imported goods. He said they help strengthen the economy overall. But critics say they make imported goods more expensive at a time when Americans are already struggling with high prices.

There’s also the issue of U.S.–China competition. The Chinese Communist Party uses trade, often unfairly, to get an upper hand over America. And this is a concern not only economically but also from a national security perspective.

NTD spoke with retired Col. Grant Newsham, senior fellow at the Center for Security Policy and the author of “When China Attacks,” for his perspective.
