Police arrested a 13-year-old boy who drove through Boston while carrying a loaded gun.
A 13-year-old juvenile male was arrested while driving down 144 Columbia Road in Boston on July 4. The onsite firearm arrest was carried out around 11:34 p.m. by officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force.
While the officers were on patrol, they questioned the legitimacy of a license plate and determined that the registration information did not match the vehicle. Police said the officers activated emergency lights and sirens to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver refused to pull over and drove at a slow rate of speed.
When the officers eventually stopped the car, they conducted a pat frisk on the boy and found a firearm that fell from his leg. The firearm was identified as a .380 Ruger loaded with one round in the chamber and five rounds in the magazine, according to the Boston Police Department.
The boy is expected to be arraigned on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, operation of a motor vehicle without a license, attached registration plates, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and refusal to stop for a police officer.
