A female pizza delivery driver, unhappy with her tip, has been arrested over a stabbing of a woman in a Florida motel on Sunday evening, local law enforcement have said.
The incident unfolded at the Riviera Motel on East Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway in Kissimmee, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.
Pizza delivery driver Brianna Alvelo, 22, has been identified as a primary suspect.
According to detectives, the victim had ordered pizza from a local pizza shop earlier that evening.
The pizza was delivered to the motel room where the woman, her boyfriend, and the woman’s 5-year-old daughter were staying, according to an affidavit filed in the case reported by NBC News,
Reportedly dissatisfied with the $2 tip she received for the delivery, Alvelo allegedly later returned to the couple’s motel room with an unidentified male suspect.
The sheriff’s office report said that the male accomplice was armed with a gun when the pair forcibly entered the victims’ motel room.
Wielding a knife, Alvelo allegedly attacked the woman inside the motel room. The woman was stabbed 14 times, according to the affidavit based on her interview with the sheriff’s office.
The authorities also said the suspects stole various items from the room.
Deputies responded to reports of the incident just before 11 pm local time.
The victim has been hospitalized and is reported to be in stable condition. She has also learned she is pregnant after being treated at the hospital, according to the affidavit.
Multiple Charges
Following an investigation, detectives secured an arrest warrant for Alvelo. The charges listed in the warrant include home invasion with a firearm, attempted murder, kidnapping, and aggravated assault.
Law enforcement successfully arrested her on Monday. She was subsequently booked into the Osceola County Jail, where she is currently held without bond.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office didn’t immediately return a request for comment made by NTD News to confirm the information cited in the affidavit.
Authorities are still working to identify and locate the male suspect who was allegedly involved.
In a statement obtained by WKMG-TV News, the owners of Marco’s Pizza, where Alvelo worked, apologized for the incident.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic incident that occurred,” said the statement.
“The local owner and his team are fully cooperating with local authorities, who have launched an investigation into the matter,” it said.
“The safety and well-being of customers and team members are always our top priority, and we are taking this incident very seriously.”
