President Joe Biden visited East Palestine, Ohio, on Friday, over a year after the Norfolk-Southern train derailment that resulted in the spilling of toxic chemicals through a large portion of the town.

President Biden chastised the Norfolk-Southern train company in his speech, criticizing what he called an “act of greed” which he says led to the accident.

The president also announced the initiation of grants for studies on the short- and long-term impacts of the chemical spill on East Palestine, and urged Congress to pass legislation assuring those who receive compensation from Norfolk Southern will not be hit with a surprise tax bill as a result.
