Chinese state media reported that more than 100 people have died following a powerful earthquake in a remote part of Tibet. The United States Geological Survey says the epicenter of the 7.1 magnitude quake was near the Nepalese border some 50 miles from Mount Everest. Tremors were felt as far away as the Nepalese capital, Kathmandu, and in parts of northern India.
Officials say 4 people have been killed in the winter storm that has gripped parts of the country. Temperatures are much lower than average for almost two-thirds of the United States. Thousands of customers are still without power, and many places received record-breaking snowfall. Forecasters are predicting more winter weather this week.
