A freight train derailed on Tuesday night in the Mexican border city of Ciudad Juárez, injuring at least 10 migrants and leaving one child missing, according to local authorities.

The train’s cargo included containers of sulphuric acid, and the derailment caused a spill when approximately 15 wagons left the tracks.

Some migrants had been riding atop the train, reports stated.

Witnesses said that some people were thrown from the train as carriages overturned. The injured were sent to a local hospital for treatment. A 4-year-old boy traveling with a group of migrants remained missing, prompting search and rescue operations in the area.
